Entry #10 Fianl Post

Personally at first I didn’t like blogging. I feel as if it was unnecessary busywork. As I continue i saw some of the feedback I was getting, a different perspective opened up. People agreed and asked questions about my blog topics. This made me feel more comfortable and satisfied with my work. Although sometimes it can be challenging to come up with topics that a large scale can relate to, you’d be suprised at how many people actually do!

Entry #9 Mental Health Part 2

Image
In a previous blog post I talked about mental health. I've decided to bring this topic back up again because I received a request, but with a twist!  In this blog post the coping skills will be more focused towards men. What are copping skills? Coping skills are tasks to calm or distract the mind. Just like females, men experience anxiety, stress, and frustration. Everyone (No matter the gender) needs to have a couple escape routes or coping skills to help them calm down.  The first coping skill is running, this is a very common coping skill because you can basically do it anywhere!  Running is a great coping skill because your mind is focused on your legs, rather then the stressors of life. Running is also very good for you, its known to improve memory, decrease illnesses, and improve sleep. According to A recent study  out of 51 people, the ones who added running to there schedule slept better through the night.  The second coping skill is listenin...

Blog post #8 ChildCare

Image
Now a days it’s hard to have a stay at home parent. That’s why so many families look to child care for help. Child care let’s parents finish there daily tasks knowing their child is being watched by professionals. Parents drop off their kids never expecting anything bad to happen. Unfortunately, the sad truth is that the neglect and death rate is on the rise.  The scary fact about daycares is that most care takers are not properly trained in childhood health and safety. According to  CBS News Reports  out of nearly 2,000 cases of SIDS in 11 states, 20% of those deaths happened in a daycare. SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is the unexplained death, usually during sleep, of a healthy baby less then one year old.  It’s hard to imagine a caregiver hurting a child, but it does happen. There have been numerous reports of children in day cares being physically harmed, being neglected, and even dying. A recent tragedy happened here in the valley on October 24...

Blog Entry #7 Portion control

Image
What are your thoughts on portion control? Portion control is the correct serving size for different foods and beverages. Portions have gradually grown larger and larger over the years. Most people don’t know how to properly portion there food, which is why obesity is the leading health problem in pediatrics. The reason why people don’t know how to properly portion there food, is because they were never taught.  Here consumers can find a couple strategies that can be used to help cut back on those calories.  First start by drinking a glass of water when your hungry. Hunger and thirst often get confused as the same feeling. While you may feel hungry, you might just be thirsty.  Second, try filling up your plate with less food, you can always go back for seconds if your still hungry. Lastly, when your eating, just eat! Most people get in the habit of watching tv, playing on there phone, or doing homework while eating. Sit and enjoy one meal with your family! ...

Blog entry #5 what are you eating?

Image
Do you ever think about where your food comes from? How your meat gets from the farm to your kitchen tabel? The difference between how organic and big time farm companies treat their animals is  astounding! Overcrowding, diseases, and mutations are all results of big time farm companies trying to make fast money the incorrect way.  Over crowding animals is the first problem with raising animals to slaughter. Farmers should have enough space for the animals to roam around freely. The problem with big time farm companies is they’re animals never see life outside of a cage. As for organic companies, they have acres of land that animals can roam on or be hearded around. Organic companies tend to be smaller in numbers because they care for the animals and have respect for nature.  When big time farmers over crowd animals they become more prone to diseases.  Zoonosis  is a disease that is transeferrable from animals to humans. Some of these diseases can sho...

Blog entry #3 Social Media

I think we can all pretty much agree that social media has tremendously changed in the last couple decades. If you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t noticed; I’ll be happy to point out all the neat tricks and tools you need to know. All of this information is coming from  Status update , I found this article really interesting and it immediately caught my attention.  The first thing a user should do is find a picture to upload. This may sound easy but it goes a lot deeper then finding any random picture. It has to be appealing to other people so they like it. Second you need approval from your friends; sometimes a second or third opinion helps point out flaws on pictures.  The next step is actually uploading the picture to social media. A user can expect to get around 2 likes per minute and 1 comment every 10 min. But there’s a trick to this step also. Users want specific type of comments such as “ Beatiful”, “ stunning”, “ Gorgeous”, Ect. Typically these co...

Blog entry#2 Coping with Brothers and Sisters

Image
Get out of my room! Take off my shirt! Leave me alone! If you have brothers or sisters these are all commonly used phrases. A house with more then one child is bound to have some problems. Whether the youngest child thinks the eldest gets more freedom or borrowing and not returning items. But your siblings can’t be that bad, can they? Here are a couple reasons why siblings tend to fight and how to resolve it.     Sometimes brothers and sisters can become jealous of each other. For example, if your sibling is better at card games then you, it might make you jealous, especially if they keep winning. Although your probably proud of your sibling for being so good at cards, it’s normal to feel a little jealousy too. It may make you feel better to focus on yourself, rather then comparing yourself to your siblings.       Competition between siblings isn’t always a bad thing, sometimes it keeps you working hard- like when your on the softball field. If your sibl...

Blog Entry #1: More About Blogs

What’s your opinion on blogs? Have you ever read one? Most likely if you scroll through the  internet you’ve come across a couple.  Not all blogs are the same; professional corporate and personal are all examples of blogs. A professional blog that I frequently visit is TMZ . This is a very popular blog because it has all the drama and information about celebrities. This type of blog excites readers because it gives them a feeling of staying in the loop.  Another popular blog is Huffington Post ; this blog is about politics, news, and weather going on in our world today. This blog usually intrigues readers interest because they learn relevant information. On the other hand, some people choose not to read blogs about our world today because they’re too faint hearted to read it. Finnaly, that brings us to the last blog  Dear Conquette . This humorous blog is different from the others because it’s a personal blog. The audience asks the author questions and ...
